ALEF Selects Its Eighteenth Class of Fellows
The Appalachian Leadership and Education Foundation (ALEF) has completed its selection process for the 2023 ALEF Romeo Class. This is the eighteenth year that ALEF has put together a group of young men and women from West Virginia who have extraordinary leadership, academic, and social skills and who have great potential to be the leaders in our communities, in government, and in our businesses. Each new Fellow exhibits the core values ALEF espouses – integrity, excellence, and service.
2023 ALEF Romeo Class:

Kaden Adams is from Bluefield, WV. He graduated from Princeton Senior High School. He will attend West Virginia University and major in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering. Kaden was a member of the National Honor Society, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the school tennis and soccer teams, and numerous other organizations. He was active in several community service clubs.
Diesel Bryant will attend Marshall University and major in Physics. He's from Chapmanville, WV and graduated from Logan High School. Diesel was a member of the National Honor Society, the Science National Honor Society, Beta Club, and was a member of the soccer team. He also was engaged in numerous community service events.
Alyssa Davis will attend Marshall University and major in Biology. She is from Delbarton, WV and graduated from Mingo Central High School. Alyssa was a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, and the basketball and soccer teams. She won several academic and athletic awards. She was also very active as a volunteer on multiple civic teams.
- Mason Miller is from Wardensville, WV and graduated from East Hardy High School. He will attend Shepherd University and major in Biology. Mason played football, wrestled, ran track, was a member of the National Honor Society, was on the student council, and was class president. He was All State in all sports and active in community service.
Zackary Nunley will attend Marshall University and major in Biology and Biochemistry. He is from Holden, WV and graduated from Logan High School. Zackary was a member of the National Honor Society, the National Math and English Honor Societies, and the Beta Club. He won numerous school and state awards. He was also active in community service.

Emily Osborne is from Oceana, WV and graduated from Westside High School. She will attend Concord University and major in Pre-law. Emily was captain of the basketball team, a member of the National Honor Society, a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and numerous other school clubs. Her grades were excellent. She was heavily engaged in community volunteer activity.
- Peyton Phillips will attend Concord University and major in Political Science. She is from Pineville, WV and graduated from Wyoming County East High School. Peyton was a member of the National Honor Society and captain of the Cheer Team in addition to participating in other high school organizations and activities.
Kyria Riddle will attend West Virginia University and major in Electrical Engineering. She is from Wheeling, WV and graduated from Wheeling Park High School. Kyria was a member of the National Honor Society and heavily engaged in music throughout her years in high school. She had excellent grades and was involved in numerous community volunteer activities.
